Taiwanofungus camphoratus is found on the camphor tree and can grow for hundreds of years. The host of wild camphor tree, the Taiwan camphor tree, which relies on for survival, grows only in mountainous areas of Taiwan at an altitude of 450 to 2000 meters worldwide. The camphor tree only grows in the hollow area of the decaying inner wall of the camphor tree, or on the dark and damp surface of the fallen camphor tree. The number is very rare and the growth rate is very slow, with an annual growth thickness of only a few centimeters. It has been legislated as a national treasure level protected tree species in Taiwan.
